Create a Bolsterstone Interpretive board to include the stocks, Jubilee Tree, Bolster Stone s, Porter s Lodge and oldest dwelling. To include:- i. sketches by local artist  ii. A map showing each site  iii. Brief historical notes

Produce heritage and walking leaflets for visitors to Bolsterstone

 

Create leaflets, available in paper format and on the web, which cover:

i. a heritage trail through Bolsterstone (featuring the main historical sites, extra information, sketches and a map) : - update ‘05 - Trail available on web - www.bolsterstonevillage.info   Stone to Steel project /  SVP - hope to work with project manager Sept ‘06

ii. varying walks of the surrounding area (based on the original SCC walks leaflet produced in the late 80’s) (SCC erected interpretation board in village  re new access areas - early ‘07)

Encourage archaeological exploration of some of the local sites

 

Approach The University of Sheffield, to consider a geophysical survey of some of the local fields. (update - geophys. survey conducted  Nov ‘05 - excavation undertaken as part of the Bolsterstone Castle Project in June ‘06 - education packs & info leaflets completed Feb ‘07.  July ‘07 - £29,300 granted for next stage -  1st, 2nd  phase dig completed August ‘07 - 3rd phase  in final stages. . As a result of interest and enthusiasm shown in this project a new archeaologicl group has been established in the village (autumn 08)

Co-ordinate a creative history project with local school children and adults

 

i. In partnership with Stocksbridge Jnr. School, create opportunities for Y5/6 children to interview local residents about life in Bolsterstone and produce results in booklet form.

ii. Create a musical play or pageant based on local history and/or the recorded stories working with local musicians
